Fort Worth Police Department Celebrates Cook Children's Patient's Dream of Making a Difference

Thirteen-year-old Zoe Saldana was recently named an honorary member of the Fort Worth Police Department, but unfortunately, a hospital stay prevented her from attending her official swearing-in ceremony.

On Wednesday, April 16, several officers brought the celebration to Zoe! They stopped by Cook Children’s Medical Center – Fort Worth to present Zoe with a junior police badge and a collection of gifts and goodies. The officers spent time chatting with her and her family, offering words of encouragement and support.

“Zoe’s biggest thing that she’s always wanted to do is to be somebody who will makes a difference,” said Carmen Orozco, Zoe’s mother. “Ever since she was little, she has always wanted to help people. She’s always gone out of her way to be a peacemaker. She feels that she has an obligation to help her community.”
