Join the Movement to Save Community Health Plans

The Texas Health & Human Services Commission (HHSC) has denied Cook Children's Health Plan (CCHP) a contract and awarded the contract to several out-of-state, for-profit insurance companies. This decision by the HHSC puts 1.8 million children and pregnant women across the state at risk of losing their trusted health care providers, including 125,000 local North Texas families. 

This is a time-sensitive issue. The Texas legislature must act before June 2, 2025, to prevent this Medicaid upheaval, which threatens to disrupt access to care for vulnerable families and destabilize the community’s health care system. 

Here's how you can show your support:

Cook Children’s is asking for your help to show the real impact this decision will have on children’s access to non-profit health care coverage. 

Step 1: Record Your Video!

• Capture a quick clip of your child smiling, laughing, playing or however they express joy. It could also be a clip of your child with their vital medical equipment.
• Keep it Horizontal: Film your video horizontally (long and wide) – perfect for media outlets to share on the news and online. 
• Keep it Concise: Aim for a video that is no longer than 15-30 seconds. Get straight to the heart of your message. 
• End with a Call to Action (Optional but Recommended): You can briefly say something like, "We love the Cook Children’s Health Plan!” or “The Cook Children’s Health Plan cares for us like family.” or “Our case manager always calls to check on us and always shows us kindness.” 

Step 2: Share Your Video on Social Media!

• Use the Hashtags: This is important for the campaign to gain visibility! Please include these hashtags in your post:

• Write this Caption and Call to Action: “This smile is possible because of Cook Children's Health Plan. Don't take it away. Please share and show your support for Cook Children’s!"
• Share Widely: Post your video on all your social media platforms – TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter/X, etc. Encourage your friends and family to share your post. 

Step 3: Encourage Others to Participate! 

• Share this toolkit with other parents you know who are affected. 
• Sample Social Media Post:
