Cook Children's Celebrates Juneteenth

In celebration of Juneteenth, Cook Children’s patient families and employees were invited to a “Walk and Block Party" in the Fort Worth medical center. Everyone participated in a Freedom Walk, or 2.5 laps around the Atrium, and enjoyed music, arts and crafts, snacks and giveaways.

The event was modeled after “Grandmother of Juneteenth” Opal Lee's annual Walk for Freedom, a 2.5-mile walk that serves as a reminder that it took 2.5 years after the Emancipation Proclamation for the news to reach South Texas.

Cook Children's Patients Putt Like Pros at Bed Pan Open 2025

Playful themes brought smiles to patients' faces at the Bed Pan Open miniature golf tournament held Tuesday morning at the Atrium of Cook Children's Medical Center - Fort Worth.

Patients and families putted their way through four whimsical courses designed by teams from Volunteer Services, Child Life, the Linbeck Group and the PGA TOUR Superstore.

Adding to the excitement were four professional golfers from the Charles Schwab Challenge, happening this week at The Colonial. PGA players Tom Hoge, Matt Wallace, Dylan Wu and Jackson Suber were on hand to meet patients and bring some cheering to the competition.

And keeping with the lighthearted theme, each hole has a bedpan at the end – that’s why it’s called the Bed Pan Open!

Patients Celebrate Easter at Cook Children's

Easter came early to Cook Children's Medical Centers in Fort Worth and Prosper. Patients and their siblings participated in our variety of festive activities at our vibrant Easter wonderlands.

Colorful Easter eggs were hidden throughout the Medical Center Atrium at Prosper. In Fort Worth, children filled their Easter baskets with all kinds of goodies. Arts and crafts stations were set up, where children could create their own Easter-themed masterpieces.

The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the visit from the Easter Bunny himself. He visited patient rooms at Prosper on Thursday and at Fort Worth on Friday. Happy Easter from all of us at Cook Children's!

Happy Halloween from all of us at Cook Children’s!

We're excited to share some of the fun and spooky happenings from this week. We had a spook-tacular time celebrating in many ways:

Beetlejuice-Inspired Haunted House: Our Child Life Zone at Cook Children’s Medical Center – Fort Worth was transformed into a thrilling haunted house inspired by the iconic movie, Beetlejuice. Young patients were involved in creating this spooky experience, and they even joined in the fun to scare our staff!
NICU's Cutest Costumes: Our tiniest patients in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit celebrated their first Halloween in style! Families dressed their babies in adorable costumes, including a firefighter, a skeleton, and even a little Harry Potter!
Patient Treat-or-Treating Event: Our patients and their families at Cook Children’s Medical Center – Fort Worth and Cook Children's - Prosper went trick-or-treating and our employees showed off their Halloween spirit by dressing up in creative costumes!
