Why It's Important To See Your Pediatrician During a Pandemic and What To Expect During Your Visit

Things have changed at my office. Apparently, there’s some virus going around?

As I say in this video – and I truly mean it – coming to see your Cook Children’s Pediatrician is safer, I believe, than going to the grocery store these days.

What can you expect when you come to see us?

Well:

We ask that you call from your car before you come in. That way, there will be a room fresh, clean and ready for you
You can complete your check-in paperwork on the MyChart app
We ask that one guardian accompany one child for the visit
Parent and child (if age 2 or older) should wear a mask
You will be greeted and screened by a member of our staff when you arrive. We’ll take your temps and ask a few quick questions.
Most days, the waiting room will be empty and you will not stop there.
No more toys or books in the exam rooms
All staff and providers will be wearing masks
Super duper hospital-grade clean-down process in each room after each patient.

You know what’s a bummer? I can’t get or give my patented Dr. Diane hugs for awhile. Seriously – it’s so sad. But I await the day those hugs can come back.
