Cook Children's Employees Commemorate COVID-19 Heroes and Memorial Day

Cook Children's employees gathered Monday, March 4 to commemorate the inaugural COVID-19 Heroes and Memorial Day. This day marks the four-year anniversary of the first COVID-19 case in Texas.

COVID-19 Heroes and Memorial Day was created to officially recognize the front-line workers whose steadfast commitment kept Texans safe during the COVID-19 pandemic and remember the nearly 95,000 Texans who lost their lives to the disease. Other Texas hospitals also commemorated the day.

At Cook Children's Medical Center - Prosper, employees gathered to receive a blessing and honor those we lost in a moment of silence led by chaplain Amanda Payne Lindsay, M. Div. There was also an opportunity to spend time in a reflective prayer activity and grab a pin to support this day. At Cook Children's Medical Center - Fort Worth, employees similarly gathered to receive a blessing and recognize the day in a moment of silence led by Jennifer Hayes, MDiv, BCC, Director of Spiritual Care at Cook Children’s. There was also a display for employees to participate in by sharing who they are both honoring and remembering today.
